Brussels, February 2025 - Ethias Lease, the exclusive electric vehicle (EV) leasing provider in Belgium, and Ubike Bike Leasing, part of Green Mobility Holding, are pleased to announce a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption by companies of low-carbon mobility solutions and to facilitate their compliance with ESG reporting obligations, which will be increasingly strict and effective from 2025.
With road transport emissions accounting for 8% of global carbon emissions, reducing commuting emissions is an essential part of any corporate sustainability strategy. The partnership between Ethias Lease and Ubike offers an integrated alternative to traditional corporate fleet services, providing 100% low-carbon mobility options thanks to electric vehicles and bicycles (electric or otherwise).
This seamless integration between vehicles and bicycles simplifies fleet management, reduces administrative burdens and guarantees companies a transition to a fully low-carbon fleet.
This partnership comes at a crucial time, as listed companies in Belgium must now comply with the obligation to produce ESG reports under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), effective as of this year. By 2026, this obligation will extend to more than 2,500 additional companies in Belgium. The companies required to produce a report include those that employ more than 250 people, have a turnover in excess of 40 million euros or total assets of more than 20 million euros. In addition, listed small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and certain financial institutions will also be subject to these obligations from 2026.
Ethias Lease and Ubike have already gathered the necessary expertise to guide companies through these changes and are actively developing the tools to meet these new regulatory requirements. Their comprehensive offering will include access to green mobility solutions, as well as advanced HR tools designed to simplify salary impact calculations and track CO2 reductions to ensure accurate reporting. In addition, the growing EV charging infrastructure in Belgium supports this transition, with the government aiming to install one public charger for every 10 electric cars by the end of the year. Ethias Lease's Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) ensures that employees have convenient access to charging stations at home, reducing range anxiety and further simplifying the transition to EVs.
Michel Lagasse, CEO of Ubike, comments: “This partnership represents a major step forward for Belgian companies, enabling them to meet or even exceed their sustainability goals. Thanks to our combined expertise, we are creating an all-in-one solution that simplifies corporate mobility while having a concrete environmental impact.”
To support the adoption of electric vehicles, Ethias Lease offers a fully managed Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) solution. This service includes the installation of home charging stations, full support and ongoing maintenance, ensuring that employees can easily charge their EVs from home. This flexible subscription model allows companies to transfer or acquire the charging stations in the event of a job change or relocation, making it a sustainable and long-term solution for responsible mobility.
Thanks to this approach, Ethias Lease supports companies by reassuring their employees through clear information on the availability and costs of recharging, planning EV journeys and advice on vehicle maintenance.
Ubike complements this offer with its BikeHive initiative, designed to promote a cycling culture within companies. This program includes interactive events, awareness-raising activities and personalized advice, helping companies encourage the use of bicycles by their employees, and thus facilitating a smoother transition to sustainable mobility.
Erwin Ollivier, CEO of Ethias Lease, added: “By combining education and infrastructure, this partnership guarantees a holistic approach to employee mobility, covering both electric vehicle and bicycle needs.”
